Piper Carter has quickly become a familiar face and name in the fashion industry. A native of Detroit, MI; Piper graduated from FIT in May 2007 and successfully completed an internship at Vogue Magazine in the photography department; assisting the photo research with editorial content for the magazine and the Poiret exhibition which was featured this past summer at the METROPOLITAN MUSEUM OF ART in the COSTUME INSTITUTE.
Believe it or not, Piper picked up the camera for the first time in 1992 while attending Howard University. She changed her major to photographer…and her love affair with photography began. One of the main reasons she became a photographer is because she wanted to make beautiful images of women; and she has definitely proven that to be true with sleek and sophisticated fashion images.
Piper was contestant on Tyra Bank’s: The Shot on VH1 and successfully came out as one of the top 7 contestants. She has been featured in: OK! MAGAZINE, TV GUIDE, US WEEKLY, and also SIRIUS RADIO, XM RADIO and many online blogs. Pipers has worked as a freelance assistant for many of the top photographers in the world including CRAIG MCDEAN, and as a studio assistant at three of the top studios in the world: Pier 59, Industria, and SPLASHLIGHT STUDIOS in New York City. She worked as an assistant to maverick photographer STEVEN KLEIN for three years.
Ms. Carter’s has shot editorial shots for BRITISH ELLE, NEW YORK TIMES, TRACE, SPIN,KING, MASS APPEAL, & other publications including emerging talent for ISLAND DEF JAM MUSIC GROUP her commercial experience consists of ad campaigns for MCCANN ERICKSON, CANDIES, THE AD COUNCIL, behind the scenes of the Fall '07 collections at OLYMPUS Fashion Week for AOL's Stylelist.com, the Spring '08 & Fall ‘08 MERCEDES BENZ Fashion Week for the NEW YORK METRO.
Just last week Ford Models did a behind-the-scenes feature on Piper for their newly successful YouTube channel that will air in the next few weeks and The Travel Channel also did a small feature on me as a Top Fashion Photographer for a new show they have coming out this summer showcasing all the best spots in the World where they followed me on a photo shoot in Brooklyn.
