FabStyle: Brea "BStar" Stinson

I had the pleasure of meeting this fab SiStar at the Armoire Couture Fashion Expo a couple of weeks ago and I fell in love with the jacket she was rocking! So, you know I had to get all the information, including where I could find one. She informed me that she was the designer of the jacket as well as a stylist to the Stars (no wonder she looked so fabtastic!)

Ms. Brea is definitely a Get 'Em Girl and her BStar designs are Get 'Em Girl Approved! You can check out some of her styles on her myspace profile: myspace.com/breabstar as well as on Get 'Em Girls, Kerry Hilson and Chrisette Michelle (speaking of which, I'm so loving the new Chrisette Michelle single "Be Okay"...check it out, we already told you it was hot in the Delicious Life...now stop playing and pick it up!) We were fortunate enough to get our hands on an exclusive copy of Mary's eighth studio album entitled "Growing Pains." THE QUEEN IS BACK! If you have been riding with Mary since "What's the 411?" now is not the time to get off the train. This album will make you dance, sing, cry and testify. For all of you Mary fans who want the scoop on "Growing Pains" read below for the track listing and a synopsis of each song.

1. Work That- If you have seen the new Apple Ipod commercials than you have heard this song. Ladies stop running from the Queen you can be becoming and work what you got!

2. Grown Woman w/ Ludacris- "Now who you talking to baby I'm Grown!" Mary said don't let the Seven jeans fool ya.

3. Just Fine- the lead off track for "Growing Pains" perfectly sets off the tone of the album; fun and fresh.

4. Feel Like a Woman- Ladies we all know there is some days you want to be rescued. You do not want to compete, argue or be in control you just want to feel like a woman.

5. Stay Down- throughout the good and bad, stay down. The drama will not last forever.

6. Hurt Again- We've all been there. You start catching feelings for someone, you want to tell them how you feel... but past relationships have made you vow not to get hurt again.

7. Shake Down w/ Usher- This is a stick up! Hold me tight and don't put up a fight. Mary and "Ursher" are robbing you for your love.

8. Till The Morning- Mary takes us back to the Rooftop Skating rink with this fun free spirit song. Grab your skates and your best dance moves and come party till the morning.

9. Roses- It's just one of those days, we all have them. Mary said sometimes she just needs a hug, because everyday ain't all roses.

10. Fade Away- when the tears are falling, wouldn't it be nice if we all had the power to fade away for a moment; invisibility would be great.

11. What Love Is- Mary sings about her definition of love on this heart felt ballad.

12. Work In Progress (Growing Pains)- Yes Mary has grown from the young girl in the alley singing "Real Love," however she is still a work in progress.

13. Talk to Me- "Ain't no telling lies, ain't no holding back, ain't no tip toeing we to0 good for that!" Mary belts out. Any day, anytime, any hour, talk to me if you want to make things work.

14. If You Love Me? You got to remember the way that you got me, because that's the way you remember the way to keep me. Spend some time, make me smile; enough said Mary!

15. Smoke- Holding on isn't healthy, but it's killing her to let go! Get the smoke out of your eyes girl..lol

16. Come to Me (Peace)- Stay and come to me, I'm here to make peace.

Don't forget to go out and purchase "Growing Pains" next Tuesday, December 18th. The Queen is back!

CRUSHIN': "GROWN MAN"

Dear Idris,

My name is fabgirl and I'm an Aries. My love for you is like peanut butter and jelly...it's authentic and it will never go out of style. I never could grasp the idea of drinking someones bath water until I first laid eyes on you. If I could describe you in two words it would be "GROWN MAN." From the "Wire" to "This Christmas" I have admired you. When I see you, I hear Lu-fa (Luther) ..."If this world were mine, I would place it at your feet." Back in the day, all I could offer you was some red kool-aid, but times have changed I have a cookbook out and we can discuss politics and music over turkey bacon and sweet potato biscuits anytime you want. So until we meet ...(and we will meet) Stay sexy...

xoxoxo, FabGirl

Bayou Dreaming: Beignets and Cafe Au Lait Ice Cream

If this were the perfect delicious life, I'd be able to wake up to a plate beignets from Cafe Du Monde, and a cup of cafe au lait...no Dunkin' Donuts for me. Unfortunately, Cafe Du Monde is a 2 hour flight away, and the cafe au lait would be cold by the time it reached me so a Get 'Em Girl had to improvise...

So, after kicking myself for not picking up a box of beignet mix the last time I was in New Orleans, I did what a Get 'Em Girl had to do...I got to creating. I came up with a beignet that was light and crispy, with a sweetness that was on point! The ice cream was really easy to make, I re-worked a recipe I already had for making ice cream before I purchased an ice cream maker...and it was bangin'!

Nola-Style Beignets

Ingredients
1 envelope active dry yeast
3/4 cup warm water
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 egg, beaten
1/2 cup evaporated milk
3-3/4 cups all purpose flour
1/8 cup vegetable shortening
Vegetable oil, for frying (Cafe Du Monde recommends cottonseed oil)
Confectioners' sugar

Directions
Combine yeast, warm water, and granulated sugar in the large bowl of a stand mixer fitted with a dough hook. Let the yeast sit until it begins to foam, about 5 minutes. Add the salt, egg, and milk to the yeast mixture and mix on low speed. Slowly begin adding half of the flour, until the dough begins to come together. Next, add the shortening and mix until it is incorporated. Add the remaining flour and mix until most of it is incorporated.

Turn the dough onto a floured work surface and knead the dough, until the dough has a smooth and non-sticky surface. Place the dough into a large, lightly oiled bowl and cover with a kitchen towel. Allow the dough to rise until it has doubled in size.

After the dough has doubled in size, punch it down and turn it onto a floured surface. Roll out the dough into a rectangle that is 1/2-inch thick. Cut into 2-inch strips, diagonal to the rectangle and place the dough on a parchment-lined baking sheet to let rise for about 40 minutes in a warm place.

(At this point you may be tempted to go onto JetBlue.com and purchase a ticket to New Orleans...but hold tight, it's worth it!)

When the dough has risen for the second time, heat 3-inches of vegetable oil in a large cast-iron skillet to 350 degrees F. Carefully place the dough into the hot oil, two at a time, making sure not to smash or deflate them. Cook, until they are golden brown on both sides, about 2 minutes per side, remove and place on a paper towel-lined platter to drain. Cover beignets completely with confectioners' sugar and serve warm.

Makes about 2 dozen beignets

Cafe Au Lait Ice Cream

Ingredients
1/2 cup hot water
4 teaspoons instant coffee granules
2 cups heavy cream
1 (14-ounce) can sweetend condensed milk
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions
In a large bowl, stir the hot water and coffee granules together until dissolved; allow to cool completely. Once cool, add the heavy cream, milk, and vanilla extract. Mix, with an electric mixer until light and fluffy, about 7 minutes. Spoon into freezer-proof container and freeze until hardened.

Enjoy!

So today I decided that I would get ready for the holidays by sprucing up my eco-castle with a fresh coat of paint (you'd be amazed how a fresh coat of paint could change the entire look of a 200 X 400 square foot apartment.)
