I'm sitting here creating a catering menu and flipping through channels, when I decide to watch the Top Chef marathon on Bravo...ok I know I'm late, but damn when was someone going to pull my butt out of the kitchen and sit me down to watch this show?!?! I mean I love it! This feels like the first time I watched Jack Bauer kick ass on 24...I really need to step my television game up (or put my DVR to better use.)

Now, my girls are out of town but I'm fighting them when they get back...'cause I missed a whole season of Tre Wilcox, the uber sexy chef from the lone star state! I mean come on ladies...I thought we were supposed to be looking out for each other! Needless to say, I will be watching from now on...although he's gone!

Joan's Restaurant Review - Ishkabibbles, Philadelphia PA

Ishkabibbles
337 South Street
Philadelphia, PA
215.923.4337

Sunday – Thursday 10am to 11pm
Friday & Saturday 10am to 2am

You can’t visit Philadelphia or even drive through the city without stopping by Ishkabibbles for one of their famous Philly Cheesesteaks; it’s definitely worth the detour. Opened in 1979, Ishkabibbles has served up their cheesesteaks to many famous faces; their photos fill the wall of this small establishment.

Thin slices of steak and melted cheese piled high on a soft hero. If beef isn’t your choice of meat, then you will enjoy the chicken cheesesteak just as much. All of the food is fresh and sandwiches are made to order. Don’t forget to ask for a “Gremlin” a mixture of grape juice and lemonade.

Limited seating is available at a small sit-down counter inside but most people grab their food at the walk up street side counter service which is right under a huge shaded tree.

Enjoy!

ZUNE PRESENTS- LIVE AT THE BBQ!

It's a bird...it's a plane...no it's the Get 'Em Girl's!

It is not to often you will see ALL three of the Get 'Em Girl's at an industry event. However, Joan, Jeniece and I all attended Live At The BBQ on Saturday, August 4th. We had a ball! We enjoyed great performances from Joell Ortiz, Cham, Smif'n'Wessun, Buckshot, Masta Ace, O.C., Special Ed, Craig G, Clipse, Large Professor, Brand Nubian, The LOX, and LL Cool J. Special shout out to DJ J. Period for keeping the crowd moving in between sets.

Thanks to CL at Digiwaxx we were able to relax in VIP. The food was great and so were the drinks. However, during the performances you could find us in the crowd because VIP is a little stiff. When the Lox screamed, Wild OUT...we needed enough room to get wild.

Much Love to GEG Dream Team- Tamir, Tasha and Shyvonne for always promoting us. Thanks to Zune Staff (Damion-we want to cater!), Digiwaxx Staff (Kasey the Great and Neil), Cornerstone (Hey Dirty!), Lyrics to Go, Lee (UNC Alumni), Shani Culture, Jayson (congrats on getting your Master's) and Ark. Lastly, special thanks to Claudine Joseph (LL's Manager). To learn more about the Zune media player check out http://www.zune.net/en-US/meetzune/default.htm

Also, the Live At The BBQ tour may be coming to a city near you so be on the look out!

Sticky Monkey Bread--The REAL Secret!

Have you ever eaten something that just took you there? I mean it could literally cure the ills of the world...at least for a few minutes? Well that is what Sticky Monkey Bread does...we haven't met one person that didn't eat it and instantly become a fan. Hell we sold over 70 books last week on the strength of it!

Needless to say, we can't give you the recipe, but it is in The Get 'Em Girl's Guide to Unlocking the Power of Cuisine--page number 23. Pick up a copy at http://www.getemgirls.com/ or your favorite neighborhood bookstore and get the secret!

Harlem Book Fair

We participated in this years Harlem Book Fair on July 21st. We had a wonderful time and sold tons of books. We prepared monkey bread and sweet tea for attendees however 45 minutes into the book fair all of the monkey bread was gone. So Jeniece, Joan and our street team held the fort down while I ran home and made some more! The Get 'Em Girl street team was definitely on their job.

Though Tamika, Fye and Minah couldn't make it...Tasha, Shavonne (pictured above with Omar Tyree), Dani, Ed and Jermaine did the damn thang. Special thanks to our friends and families who stopped by. Also thanks to authors Big Boom, Omar Tyree, Miasha, and Shannon Holmes for always showing us love.

HOT 97-Miss Jones in the Morning

Yesterday we had a successful interview with Miss Jones on Hot 97. Back in June we met with her morning show producer, Shawnee Culture and gave him a Get 'Em Girl package. The next morning (6/22/07) Miss Jones was talking about the Get 'Em Girl's Guide on Hot 97. For all of you who listen to Miss Jones (aka Jonesy), you know that it is not too often that she endorses any music or products. Not only did she commend us on air, she also extended a future invitation for us to interview with her. Fast forward (7/31/07)...The Official Get 'Em Girl's are on Hot 97 with Miss Jones, DJ Envy and Michael Shawn. The interview was great! The morning show crew are very cut throat, so we were surprised at the love they showed us (**note to future guest, bring food). For those of you who missed the interview...as Miss Jones would say......"oh well, oh well." Just kidding... we should have the audio link soon.
